More franchise and name-recognition than Microsoft. A hell of a lot cheaper than PS3. Family games that hardcore fans will still love (Smash Brothers, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon). Not to mention the fact that it has one of the most innovative controllers I've ever seen, and I can't wait to get my hands on one.
Oh yeah, not to mention support with the DS, which is currently dancing on the PSP's overpriced and easily broken grave. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a movie advertised on TV to also have a UMD counterpart?
This isn't really to make a point, more to just rant. X-Box Circumfrence will still be around due to it being viewed as more of an 'adult' system, and the excellent internet support offered. However, I'm digging a shallow grave for Sony on this round, and unless they pull some spectacular feat out of their collective butts, we may see the PS3 be the Dreamcast of Sony.
Discuss or tell me I'm wrong or something.

I dunno, I think Nintendo will have a bit of trouble after the Gamecube. I admit the Wii does look rather cool with the controllers and all, but the only fan base they really have left are kids and hardcore Zelda fans. The PS3, though expensive, might pull through due to the large amount of fans they've been building since the release of the PS1

I remember reading about E3 and that most of the people attending wanted to see Wii more than PS3. In fact two demos on PS3 had trouble playing (something about random glitch errors). Ironically, the one console that didn't get a lot of press attention this year was the X-box 360.
By the way, have you all seen the trailer for Resident Evil 5? That game should pull some people to PS3.

Yeah, and it certainly makes me want one. However, no game is worth 650 dollars. I'm joining the rest of the population in the 'wait until Sony realizes what a mistake this is and lowers the price' genre.
