Many of you may have heard that Microsoft is setting a deadline to download and upgrade to Service Pack 2 (Microsoft's XP Security Patch). The article said that Microsoft will FORCE your computer to upgrade to SP2 on April 12 if you haven't already.
Kind of brings to mind that quote from Chronicles of Riddick "Convert now, or fall forever."
Of course, I recommend upgrading to SP2 as it fixes a lot of bugs and grants your computer a nice firewall to the nasty evils of the internet. However, if you do not want to upgrade, simply go to the control panel, and turn off Automatic Updates. That's it, no worries, invasion over.
As a side note, most college LANs require you have Automatic Updates enabled. I don't because of memory issues, but I still check for updates once a week. If you are on a fast connection, go ahead and update. But if you're on a dial-up or slow connection, the 250+ MB size will take quite a while to download.
If you have any questions about SP2 or PC issues, email me or post a message.

Yeah, well guess what? Apple doesn't make you download anything, and it doesn't have that kind of problem to begin with.
Sorry, just wanted to beat Zack to it, though I'm sure he'll have alot more to say.

You know what? I think SP2 sucks more ass then Taylors vacuum. That damnable firewall only causes you to hafta disable it to do anything productive (if you. like me, are into the darker side of the net) and Ive heard nothing but bad reports on the damned thing so I am definately skipping it.

Well in truth, it's not too hard to turn off, and it's definitely not the best firewall. I have to set mine up whenever I get a new game that I'm going to play online. The only problem I have with it is when I use the Punkbuster software with Far Cry, as it sometimes thinks Punkbuster is "malicious software" But all in all, I haven't had a single virus or trojan on my computer since installing it.

You know, I havn't had a single virus or trojan on my computer since...ever.
But then again, I'm not playing Farcry, which looks sweet. So goes life.
