Ok, for those of you who don't know, the new DCI standard bannings are out, and lets get some opinions. First off, Arcbound Ravager and Disciple of the Vault are banned in standard, along with the artifact lands: Ancient Den, Great Furnace, Seat of the Synod, Tree of Tales, Vault of Whispers, and Darksteel Citadel. This is a good example of Magic R&D screwing up. Anyway, lets get some opinions.

Geez they ban a card that they build a pe-con deck after. I can see why Arcbound Ravager is banned. All the decks that have been built around them lately have dominated everything.

I for one am glad. Ravager decks are cheap wins. It doesn't matter what they go against, they 90% of the time win. The greatest accomplishment is the banning of the arti-lands. They gave Ravager and the other pumpables the most power in the Ravager-type decks. This is best banned list I've seen in a long time. No more Ravager 3rd turn wins ;D ;D ;D
And hey, that means there's no more need of side-boarding artifact hate. ;D

I will agree with Jonathan here.
Extended is made of 6 different blocks, and yet Ravager Affinity kicked ass and took names in it. Also, with the Arti lands gone, with any luck standard will slow down. The only thing that could run against affinity with those lands was a mono-red burn a la Red Deck Wins, and that's only 50/50 at best.

Yeah, Ravager could take on red mono, black mono, and blue control. That's way too powerful for one deck.
