Ok, some of my friends got me into this show, and it's actually pretty good. Think a western, in space. One of the things I like is that they aren't smuggling to pay off some intergalactic crime boss, or to help people, but that their main problem is keeping fuel in the ship. The characters don't change much, but you do get to see them in different lights as it goes on. Another fun thigns is that the first episode actually starts with the main character being the happy, optimistic character, and then you see why he became bitter and ruthless. I'd recomend it to anyone.
The show was canceled after only 13 episodes, but there was such an outpouring of protest that they made a major movie, Serenity. If you liked it, you'll like Firefly too.

Yeah, both Firefly and Serenity are great (and there's actually 14 episodes if you count the 2 hour premier). But yeah, Star Wars with a western undertone.
And, they cus in Chinese...you can't get much more creative than that.

Watch Firefly first, once you understand the characters Serenity becomes much better.
Oh, and I only count it as 13 episodes because the first two are one episode that was split.
