Pretty self explanitory question up there. Who is the best? Extra points if you say why.
I picked Slipknot, because the guy is a fucking beast. He has the fastest feet I've heard, the most primal breakdowns, and he messes up. Thats right, hes awesome because he isn't perfect. You can hear him miss drums and hit rims. But you know what? He does all of it while still blasting out the fastest beats with the most emotion.

Well, I'm gonna have to go with Slipknot, and for the same reasons as Zack. Yep.

This is tough. I would vote Slipknot, but I saw a video of him drumming and he uses one of those pedals that hits when he presses and releases so it's really not him going that fast. I think Cryptopsy's drummer kicks some major ass though and Slayer's isn't bad either.

I've heard the Slipknot drummer rumor, and I would like to disband it. I have several videos of them playing several years ago, and he is using a standard double bass pedal (albiet one with a killer springback). Only recently have I seen him use the new one that hits on the heel of the step.
Why? I have no clue. The band's new stuff is no where near their old music in terms of speed. Maybe he got injured, or just lazy.
So, for the purpose of this, old Slipknot.
Slayers drummer is fast, yeah, but he's almost too sloppy for me. Especially live, it seems like he has trouble holding down the beat. Possibly he is just a better studio drummer. Not that Slayer fans care, they are too busy carving the band's name into their arms with a fork.
And if anyone says Metallica I will eat your firstborn.

Hahaha if you think Metallicas drummer is good you should fuck a rabid hynna seconds before impaling yourself upon a spork for your stupidity.
Wow I think this is the first time Ive used modify. Anyways for the record I have yet to carve the name Slayer into my arm. I love them, but some of their stuff is just way to fast. Like Hell Awaits. One helluva bad ass song. I mean the begginning kicks major ass, but they lyrics are so goddam fast.

Where's System of a Down? That guy can play the toms like a motherfucka.
Oh well, I guess I'll vote Tool mainly because they have varying drum beats instead of the constant 32nd notes that Slipknot dishes out.

I didn't put SOAD because I was looking at more 'hardcore' bands, if you will.
And I kinda figured you would pick Tool. He is a lot more technical than Slipknot. Unfortunatly that takes away from me liking his style, as I was never actually taught to play drums. So I like the looser, more organic feel of Slipknot.

I never saw Slipknot as "organic" per say, but you are right about the digital upbeat mix of Tool. It's appealing to me. But I will say for someone never taught drums, you're pretty good. Hell, you're better than Crawford, though that isn't saying much.

In the end I throw my vote over to Mudvayne. That guy sure as hell knows how to throw in a beat.

Jonathan, that means a lot to me. The people like you and Aaron who are awesome always intimidated me, because no one ever really taught me how to play.
I know its a long way out, but you should try to make one of our shows sometime, you might be impressed. Or at least entertained.

Dude. Okay, I know this has nothing to do with drummers and said bands and such, but Jonathan your birthday is the same day as mine and that just kinda freaked me out a bit. Right, so carry on with y'alls discussion.
